Definisi Adverbial Clause

Adverbial Caluse berasal dari dua kata yaitu “Adverb” dan “Clause”. Adverb adalah kata keterangan yang menerangkan verb (kata kerja) dan adjective (kata sifat), sedangkan Clause adalah anak kalimat.

Jika di gabungkan maka adverb clause adalah anak kalimat yang menerangkan kata sifat dan kata kerja.

Penggunaan Adverbial Clause

Adverbial clause diawali dengan penggunaan sebuah subordinate conjunction itu antara lain yaitu : after, although, as, as if, as/so long as, as soon as, in order that, no mather, on condition that, provide (that), since, so that, so…..that, much…..that/…..much thatsurosing (that), than, tough, because, before, even if, even tough, for fear that, if, unless, until, what ever, when, where, when ever, where ever, wethet, while.

Macam-macam Adverbial Clause

Adverbial clause dikelompokkan berdasarkan makna dari subordinate conjunction yang mengawalinya sebagai berikut :

1.      Time : When, when ever, until, while, since, after, before, at.

Contoh :           *I read novel whenever I had th’ chance.

                        *I worked as a Doctor after I finished my education.

2.      Place : Where, wherever.

Contoh :           *I lived where I was born.

                        *I will take you wherever you war.

3.      Manner : As, as if.

Contoh :           *I will do as I have been ill.

4.      Comparisan : As, than

Contoh:            *she runs faster than I do.

5.      Reason, Cause, Purpose : as, because, so that, in order that, for fear that, since.

Contoh :           *It will not be necessary to cook come food because they have hought pizza.

                        *As/since he feels dizzyhe will not be able to walk alone

6.      Result : So…that, such…than/…such that.

Contoh :           *He skill was such that ge solve the problem very rapidly.

7.      Condition : if, whether, uncless, provided (that), on condition that, as/so long as, supposing.

Contoh :           *He will not visit you unless it is necessary.

                        *He will consider it provided that, his condition are met

8.      Contrast, Consession, Although, Though, Even Though, No Manner If, While, Even If, Wherever.

Contoh :           *While I made maby friends, I have to learnon my own.
